Virtualbox

References

There are two editions of virtualbox.

  1. The free for personal use VirtualBox binaries available from SourceForge
  2. The open source edition (OSE) available as a Debian/Ubuntu package

If you are using the OSE, you need to download an ISO image of VirtualBox Guest Additions iso file (see reference above) for your version of virtualbox.

Download the iso to /usr/lib/virtualbox/additions/ and remove the version number from the filename so that you end up with /usr/lib/virtualbox/additions/VBoxGuestAdditions.iso

Next, go to the "Devices" menu in the virtual machine's menu bar and select "Install guest additions"

When the installation is finished, reboot and you will have USB and CDROM available.

To select the CDROM, go to the "Devices" menu in the virtual machine's menu bar and select "CD/DVD Devices" then select "Host Drive"
